Set up your Sharpen Account

There are 3 steps to setting up your Sharpen account covered in this article.

  1. Create your account
  2. Create a child profile
  3. Complete the Reading Placement Assessment with your Learner

Create an account

Visit sharpen.com and click "Start free trial" in the green bar at the top.

Enter your name, e-mail address, and desired password.

Click Next to enter your credit card information. (You won't be charged until after your free trial.)

If you have been invited as a Sharpen tester, use the same e-mail address that received our invitation to receive complementary access.

Create a child profile

Next, create a Child Profile for your learner. Fill in the form and click "Submit."

Complete the Reading Placement Assessment with your Learner

To begin the Sharpen Reading lessons, take the quick Reading Placement Assessment which sets the starting level appropriate for your learner. Click "Start Assessment" to begin.

It includes a short video with instructions for you, the examiner, to watch without your learner present. After you watch the video, administer the Placement Assessment to your learner.

Sharpen will immediately calculate your learner's reading level:

Click "Start Reading" to begin the reading program at your child's level.
